More snow on the way? 2-4 inches possible Friday

A Columbia Borough employee applies brine to borough streets Thursday in anticipation of Friday’s snowfall.

According to WGAL:

  • Tonight, lows will fall to 26 degrees.
  • On Friday, light snow will develop from west to east between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m.
  • The snow will immediately stick to the roads.
  • Expect a slow Friday morning commute.
  • Steady, light snow will continue through Friday afternoon, before tapering from west to east by evening.
  • The Friday evening commute could be worse than the morning.
  • Snow looks like it will wind down between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
  • How much snow is expected Friday?
  • The snow will be widespread across the Susquehanna Valley, with totals ranging from 2-4 inches of fluffy snow.

NOTICE: You have 24 hours to clear your sidewalk after the snow stops

An industrious resident used the recent snowfall to make this snowman (snow woman?) on South 3rd Street.

Columbia Borough PA NOTICE: Please remember to clear the sidewalk adjacent to your property 24 hours after the snow stops. If you live on a corner property, please clear the ramp(s) as well.

Shooting/Aggravated Assault | Columbia Borough Police Department

On Monday, 1/15/24 at or about 11:58 pm, Columbia Police patrol officers were dispatched to the area of the 100 block of North Fourth Street in Columbia for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 16-year-old juvenile male who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The wound is not life-threatening.  Multiple spent shell casings were located in the 300 block of Avenue G, and all indications are that the shooting event occurred in the 300 block of Avenue G near its intersection with North Fourth Street.  

Investigators collected evidence from the scene and are continuing to work towards obtaining surveillance footage from several privately-owned security cameras located in the area of the shooting. At this point, the shooting victim is not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
