According to the agenda for the June 9, 2026 Columbia Borough Council meeting, council will “Authorize staff to readvertise for bid proposal of McGinness Property.”

The “Invitation to Bid and Request for Proposals” is contained in the meeting packet HERE.

Everyone needs to understand that this meeting is just as important if not more so than the meeting held to vote on the sale of the McGinness property. The borough could prevent the parcel from being developed into a data center by changing the zoning for it to not permitted. They could leave the Malleable Road property as permitted, preferably with special exception, to fulfill the PA requirement that we not completely ban data centers from the borough. Instead, council is going to vote on rebidding the property using the same RFP, putting us in exactly the same position we found ourselves in less than two weeks ago. Please consider attending the June 9th meeting to voice your objections to the RFP without zoning changes.
