Another one bites the dust

What was once a building is now a pile of rubble. This (former) brick building at 109 Perry is reputed to have been part of a livery stable years ago, and more recently a residence. It was demolished today to make way for a multi-unit self-storage facility to be developed by Associates Properties PA, LP.  The facility will also include properties at 243 S. Front Street and 319 S. Front. The facility will contain 10 x 20, 10 x 25, and 10 x 30 units, for a total of 40,000 square feet of storage space, according to Jeff Seibert of Associates Properties.  Construction is expected to begin in March and be completed by late July.

Below is a Google Maps photo showing how the building appeared in August 2011. The storage facility will cover the field shown in the photo.

  1. Even though it is not a business or commercial going to built in a sense, at least the borough and school will be getting tax revenue and also free up borough workers from cutting grass at that site.

  2. Cole, the pictures you take around town are great. On your travels, have you noticed the number of cars with flats that have probably been sitting for weeks. What is the borough code concerning cars not being moved? Also, is the sweeper running? Has not been on my block for weeks?

  3. I saw the sweeper early Tuesday morning about the time it does Locust St., but then head over 2nd St. with brushes up. The section of 2nd St. marked for Tuesday 7-11 sweeping. Sweeper did nothing. My side of Union St. is marked for Tuesday PM and nothing done. Why have it, if they do not use it to its potential.

  4. If you call the borough,684-2467 ext.5, the message is always the sweeper is running. They never change the message. How hard is it to correct the message?

  9. They're building these storage facilities so people losing their homes due to high taxes have somewhere to put their belongings! Then in a few months the facility owners will auction off the belongings in an episode of Storage Wars! LMAO
