A $102,015 grant from the state Department of Environmental Resources will be used to pay for curbside recycling bins for all residents, allowing the borough to collect more recyclables.

great! everyone SHOULD recycle….we don't want all that plastic, glass and tin cans in the ground. hoping the Boro FINES every single person who does NOT recycle…its mandatory for everyone everywhere. another codes dept lack of enforcement. to do otherwise is irresponsible ignorant and unacceptable.
How about that water company!! Eight dollars more a month increase to pay for their low,low,low interest loan!!!! Why can't i go out and get a high low interest loan and make some else pay for it!! Another crooked deal is in the works!!
and don't forget that the Columbia Water Co stole the land by eminent domain to build its NEW plant on. talk about a kick in the head. and yes COlumbia residents ONLY. sounds suspicious.
GREED, pure and simple. another monopoly. water bill is now higher than sewer bill…but NOT for long. LASA will immediately RAISE the minimum bill from $19.44 to (last I heard a number from them last year) was $28.00 a month BUT January 2015 their website states a 3% rate increase across the board! still think this is the way to go and a good deal?? it's most definitely NOT. LASA is the nail to the Boro's coffin.
Businesses in this town with “11/2 meters or bigger now pay over $100/mo for fees. This doesn't pay for any of the water they use. This fee is tacked onto the total Just one more reason not to bring your business into Cola.
my water bill was $32 last month this month its $49.90 with fees. unacceptable. the residents on “you know you're from Columbia” have posted the PA PUC phone number to call to complain. have your bill with you….check it out!
I can't believe they've stayed this long. The cost to operate in this town compared to our surrounding neighborhoods isn't even close. You have to give them credit for staying as long as they did.Anvil next?

Third, check the County of Lancaster Property Assessment website, McKonly owns many properties, not all in Columbia Borough. Fourth, get your facts straight about propane. Finally, would you want to operate a business in Columbia?

Well let me say, how does the CEDC market Hotel Locust and the Columbia Hotel when THEIR own president of the CEDC is moving his business OUT of town. In case you don't know this either, he is building his mansion behind the high school, again OUT of Columbia school district. His KOZ benefits have expired so his way of saying thanks is with his middle finger up!!!

He should not have to pay these rediculous taxes that are the result of other peoples bad decisions ( council people & school board members). Its the way of business these days, states compete with one another too. The taxing entities that can't keep their expenses down lose out to more efficient ones (Detroit, Harrisburg, etc)You can bet Anvil will be lobbied, & with them being a major water user, these new increases really hurts them.
