Cruisin' in Columbia
Mother Nature gave us perfect weather for the 8th annual Cruisin’ car show on Saturday. Entrants were still registering as of late morning, bringing the total to 455, as compared to 413 last year. Organizer Barry Doutrich led the way in presenting awards and honoring local veterans.
Proceeds will benefit the Columbia Food Bank, The Columbia Borough Police Department K-9 Unit, and Hospice of Lancaster.

Fanfare for the Common Man
This is one of several patriotic fanfares written during World War II.
I remember reading an interview with Aaron Copland in which he noted that other composers were writing fanfares to honor generals and admirals, but he wrote this for the ordinary soldiers, since they were the ones doing the actual fighting.
