The Public Works crew is slated to remove snow on Walnut St. from 5th St. to 9th St. on 01-30-16 starting at noon. Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the streets during this time.

The Public Works crew is slated to remove snow on Walnut St. from 5th St. to 9th St. on 01-30-16 starting at noon. Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the streets during this time.

Greg Sahd, Columbia borough manager, said clearing up storm drains was part of the overall clean-up strategy. Officials are working on getting assistance from PennDOT to help clear the roads. “It's a slow slog,” Sahd said.

This afternoon, a crew removed snow from the backlot of the Columbia Plaza to facilitate truck deliveries. A backhoe loaded snow onto a couple of dump trucks which then dumped it at the lower end of the front parking lot . . .
Meanwhile on South Fourth . . .
Borough workers continued the cleanup, with several dump trucks continuously hauling snow away from the scene. Some residents are understandably growing impatient, but there’s a lot of snow to be moved, and the crew is working as fast as possible. Instead of complaints, borough workers deserve a round of applause.
