
On Thursday afternoon, the Susquehanna River at Columbia River Park was elevated by more than six feet above normal, a result of the recent heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service anticipates that the river will crest on Friday afternoon.




Items dumped along South Front Street
Sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, mattresses, chairs, and other furniture items were dumped along roadways in Columbia Borough.
Mattresses, box springs, and various furniture items were found along South Front Street, while a mattress, box spring, and chairs were left next to Bank Avenue. The borough’s public works crew removed the items.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a detour scheduled to begin tomorrow for a bridge replacement project on Route 441 (Water Street) in Lancaster County, has been postponed until next Monday due to inclement weather. The bridge spans Shumans Run between Manor Street and Conestoga Street in Manor Township.
Weather permitting, the bridge will be closed Monday, April 8. Multiple detours will be in place during the closure.
A car detour will use Route 462, 15th Street, Manor Street, Franklin Road, Central Manor Road and Route 999 (Penn Street).
A truck detour will use Route 30, Route 741 and Route 999 (Penn Street).
A bicycle detour will use Manor Street, Hempfield Street and Charlestown Road.
Work is expected to be completed by June 8, 2024.
JVI Group, Inc., is the contractor on this $1,657,024 project.
