PA Supreme Court says gerrymandered maps violate the state constitution

In brief order handed down on Monday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court held that that state’s gerrymandered congressional maps violate the state constitution. That state’s map is so aggressively gerrymandered that Republicans won 13 of the state’s 18 congressional districts in 2012, despite the fact that Democrats won a majority of the popular vote — and Republicans have held those districts ever since.

Junior firefighter
Dog attack!
The woman shown was walking her two dogs on the high school hill (Sunday, January 21) when the black dog on the right attacked from a nearby yard. The woman picked up her dogs, one under each arm, until the attacker’s owner responded about ten seconds later and got the dog under control. The woman’s dogs were each on a leash. The attacking dog obviously was not.
