A Texas Eastern Pipeline spokesperson says about a cup of methyl mercaptan, an additive used to odorize natural gas, was released at a third-party location while processing materials from its Marietta facility.
The company has removed the affected soil for proper disposal. It says there was never a safety risk to neighbors or the community.
