Lancaster County police departments want to encrypt radio transmissions so that people with scanners — including the media — are no longer able to listen in on their broadcasts.

  1. Even though many people enjoy listening to the scanners, criminals also can listen while committing a crime. They hear the police are on their way, they take off. I would support encrypting police calls to protect our officers.
