Schools rely on local funds as they await state budget

Public school districts have two principal sources of revenue: their state subsidy and local funding. The latter comes primarily from property taxes.
In Lancaster County, the state share of district funding ranges from a low of about 17 percent for Manheim Township School District to 45 percent for SDL and 48 percent for Columbia Borough School District, the two highest.

Well, mostly anyway.  Workers toiled all day today removing the facade at 208-210 Locust, brick by brick. Only side bricks remain.  A foreman on the scene said the project could last into Saturday, although today’s endeavor moved along faster than expected.
